Waititu speaking on Thursday in Kiambu town said the grace period he gave to the traders has elapsed.

"Liquor business in Kiambu is on the rise because traders have been enjoying doing the business without licenses. Traders are advised to apply for the licenses afresh to be allowed to operate their businesses,” said Waititu.

The governor said licenses will help the county to regulate liquor business across the county.

He warned traders against selling liquor to underage children saying traders who will be found will face the full force of the law.

“Children should not be allowed to consume alcohol. Traders and parents found allowing their children to consume alcohol will be arrested and prosecuted,” said Waititu.

This comes after MCAs on Tuesday passed a motion to compel traders selling illicit brew to have licenses.
