The Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) and the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) on Tuesday announced a broad partnership to promote sustainable and equitable socio-economic development while enhancing integration among the counties in the Lake Region.

The strategic partnership signed at Grand Royal Swiss Kisumu, seeks to empower residents by creating more employment opportunities as the devolved unit fights to remain as one of the most successful counties in the country.

The two organisations led by Abala Wanga (Interim Head of LREB Secretariat) and Evans Atera (Acting Managing Director LBDA) reiterated that the new union is expected to explore integrated planning, coordination and implementation of development projects.

The partnership also aims at leveraging the two organisation’s respective strengths in order to achieve access to new and expanded markets, economies of scale, comparative strengths, shared resources and values.

The partnership is expected  revolutionise the region by bringing together researched data and information in addition to thought out interventions and growth strategies through the LBDA’s master plan and the LREB’s blueprint.

"The best partnerships are not dependent on a mere common goal but on a shared path of equality, stability, realities and interests," Mr Atera said.
