President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday swore in Mr Noordin Mohamed Haji as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Mr Haji who is the first born son to Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji was sworn in after being vetted and approved by the National Assembly.
Mr Haji who was previously deputy director of the national intelligence service becomes the second holder of the DPP office since the promulgation of the new constitution.
Paul Kihara Kariuki was also sworn into office to become Kenya’s seventh Attorney General.
Mr Haji will take over from Keriako Tobiko who is now Environment Cabinet Secretary while Kihara will succeed Githu Muigai who resigned last month.
Both of them took their oaths of office at a ceremony held at State House, Nairobi.
Three Chief Administrative Secretaries and five Principal Secretaries were also sworn in by the President during the event.
President Kenyatta congratulated the officials and promised to work closely with them to achieve the government’s promises.
“You have been placed in positions of authority and respect but you have to earn that respect by the manner in which you exercise your role,” said the President.
