The new Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) chair, Eliud Wabukala, has challenged relevant stakeholders to join him in the fight against graft.
Speaking on Monday shortly after taking oath of office at the Supreme Court, the former head of Anglican Church of Kenya further expressed optimism that he will deliver in his new role.
"Fighting corruption should not be left entirely to the commission. Cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, executive officers, governors and accounting officers must take responsibility and should also be held answerable for what happens in their ministries, departments and counties," said Wabukala as quoted by the Nation.
Wabukala replaces former EACC Chair Philip Kinisu, who was hounded out of office over his alleged participation in the National Youth Service (NYS) scam.
Several leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta, Opposition leaders and legislators have since sent Wabukala messages of good will, exuding confidence that the man of the cloth will be able to fight corruption.
