They said that they were worried about time frames that have been set for training.

Addressing the media at Culture hall during a two days training workshop for public and private ECD teachers, a sub-county director Omingo Makori cited several constraints affecting the implementation of the curriculum.

"We are specifically lacking materials for implementation. teachers are lacking curriculum books to implement curriculum designs ,"said Makori.

He decried lack of the curriculum’s design materials for teaching and delayed course books from Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

Omingo disclosed majority of schools were yet to receive approved textbooks despite the fact that they had been released by the national government.

Teachers, he said, could not conduct practical lessons or consult with the KICD to directly register their grievances.

Omingo, however, said it would require a high degree of discipline and trust amongst teachers to deliver.

Another facilitator,  from Kitutu Chache North sub-county Gladys Magoma said the new curriculum was timely.

Magoma, addedwas that teachers would be able to use the designed tools to assess learners’ unlike in the old system where examinations were applied at the same time.
