A new education programme targeting school dropouts has been launched in Kisumu County.
The programme, Radically Affordable Rural Education, aims at giving another chance to those who dropped out of school due to lack of school fees, pregnancy or any other reason.
Programme coordinator Nicole Hart said: “We will take students who sat for their class eight and failed to proceed to high school. Those who dropped out of secondary school or those who sat their form four examinations and failed to acquire the marks to university will also benefit,” she said the new initiative will enrol such students to continue with their education and achieve their intended goals.
She noted that each student in the programme will be given a tablet that will assist them in their learning.
Hart said there will be four sites within the county where learning will take place that will be spread in the sub counties of Kisumu Central, Seme and Muhoroni.
“The programme works in a way that the students we bring on board will be able to do their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams,” she said.
She said the programme will revolutionise education in the county as access to education to everyone will be guaranteed.
