Sadaf Deen is the newest entrant in the race to replace Mombasa Woman Rep Mishi Mboko ahead of the next general election.
Speaking at Maunguja grounds in Mwakirunge in Mombasa during the International Women's Day celebrations, Deen said that she is ready to battle it out with other aspirants in the race. She said she joined the contest because of her desire to transform the lives of women, youth and men, adding that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho did not request her to contest.Deen said she will continue with the legacy of Mboko, who is eying the Likoni Parliamentary seat. The soft spoken politician said women and youth in Mombasa have inspired her to join the field of politics, which has been dominated by men. “These women you see here and the youth out there have encouraged me so much to be a leader. And I want to lead them by bringing change and empowering them. I have confidence. I am up to the task,” she said, as quoted by Nation. She further expressed confidence that women and men in the area will rally behind her as she seeks to clinch the seat with an impressive margin."We are living in a generation that anyone can easily tell the problem that faces women. I believe that women in Mombasa are fully behind my political bid and will elect me to serve them,” she added.
