The newly elected Kabonyo Council of Elders chairperson Rev Ogallo Akonde has called for peaceful coexistence among his people.

Ogallo took over as chair of the Kabonyo elders council on Friday at an event held at Withur Boys secondary school in Nyando.

"I need your support as much as you need mine," he said after taking over the chairmanship.

"We must unite and consult on any emerging issues so that I can do my duties."

The ceremony was also attended by Nyando MP Fred Outa.

The new chair is expected to steer the promotion of culture among his people.

Outa and other leaders present at the event reiterated the need to promote peace especially at a time the country prepares to go into an election.
