The new Kisumu County Police Commander John Kamau is working on mechanisms to improve relationships between members of the public and police officers.

He intends to achieve this by bringing stakeholders together, towards improving security in the Lake Victoria County.

In an interview with Hivisasa.com on Monday, the new commander said, “We intend to work together with all stake holders starting from leaders to members of the public towards improving public-police relationship, which will ultimately lead to improved security.”

Relationship between police and the public in Kisumu has not been good in the recent past, especially during anti-IEBC demos which led to death of a number of people after allegedly being shot by police with a host of others hospitalized.

The demos were called by National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders to push for reforms at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), before presidential repeat election.

John Kamau was appointed Kisumu County commander recently. He replaced Titus Yoma who was transferred to Garissa County in the same capacity.
