A new management has been installed at St Mary’s Mission Hospital in Nairobi.
It took over operations at the institution yesterday Friday amidst accusations of harassment and dismissal of staff.
Earlier Friday morning, operations had resumed with doctors attending to patients after chaos broke out the previous day over the change of guard.
Some staff however accused the new management that is headed by the Assumption of Sisters of Nairobi, blaming them for victimisation after a good number of their colleagues were thrown out on Thursday due to their opposing stand against changes at the facility.
A doctors’ union official later claimed that three doctors and a baby sustained injuries during the fracas.
According to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union secretary general Ouma Olunga, a doctor suffered a sprained knee in the violence as evictions took place at the staff quarters.
“As a union, we are concerned about the affairs in the hospital and the management must take responsibility,” said the unionist.
