New Bishop of Mombasa ACK Diocese Alphonce Baya has promised better leadership to the members of the church following his anointment after a month-long legal battle over his election.The new bishop said his 25-year tenure in office will witness a number of changes. He said he will focus on five main areas namely mission, governance, human resources, sustainability at all levels and institute for church life.Baya officially took over from outgoing Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit during a colorful consecration ceremony conducted on Sunday at Mbaraki Sports Ground.In his address to the church, he asked the disgruntled clerics to support him as he starts his tenure. He also asked the brethren to focus on the youthful generation in the church for prosperity.“In order to secure the future of our Diocese, there is an urgent need to refocus our mission strategy on the youth, teens, and children,” he said, as quoted by The Star.A section of clerics had moved to court seeking to stop the consecration of the new bishop on grounds that his election was marred with all sorts of illegalities and irregularities.
