Well, in Thika there is this phrase that has now become a cliché especially among the boda boda riders in Makongeni.

Of course, many Thika residents being boda boda users have picked it and it has now spread like bushfire in the area.

The Gikuyu phrase, "...geithagia andu mbia ni ithiraga na mutumia akora kana thimu ikagwa kioro...," which loosely translated means, "make it a habit to be greeting people even when you feel rich because you can lose everything in a matter of time including your wife and phone...," is from a recently released Kikuyu song by one musician, Kuruga Wa Wanjiku.

The song can be said to be a success going by the way people have been relating with it.

So, next time you visit Thika and hear people tell you 'geithagia andu...', don't take it to be an insult.

It is the current street cliché that residents are using to simply ask you to greet them.
