Nakuru Level 5 hospital commonly known as PGH is set to have new management with Dr.John Murima having been moved from the facility and replaced by Dr.Solomon Sirma who will be in charge of the facility.

Under the new posting in a letter from the county director of medical services dated December 22 2017, Dr.Murima will now work as the Deputy Director of Health county headquarters.

According to the posting order 29.12.2017, the developments had been discussed and approved in an effort to enhance service delivery.

Others who have been posted to new stations are Dr Joseph Mburu who has been moved from Naivasha sub-county hospital to Nakuru PGH as medical superintendent, Dr Bernanrd Warui will remain medical superintendent Bahati sub-county hospital.

Dr Dorcas Murage, a dental specialist at the Gilgil sub-county hospital, will now serve as medical superintendent at the same facility.

However, the new development at Nakuru PGH has elicited mixed reactions on social media platforms with some residents claiming that the move has ill motives.

A section of residents claim that Governor Lee Kinyanjui is being mis-advised by some cartels that are out to ensure his regime does not succeed.

Dr Murima has managed several hospitals in the past including Naivasha, Meru and Chuka public hospitals.

He is a specialist gynecologist and has masters in healthcare management from Strathmore University.

Under his leadership at the Nakuru PGH, he improved quality of care as evidenced by the increased patients seeking services from 14,000 to 47,000 patients monthly.

It is during his tenure that the facility saw improved infrastructure as well as working conditions among them staff trainings and sponsorship with reduced periods of hospitalization besides the ongoing construction of the modern maternity wing of 192 beds.

It is for these reasons that a section of residents feel the move to have Dr Murima out of the facility as ill motivated and might cost Kinyanjui's administration.

Addressing media in his office on Wednesday, Rift valley council of elders patron Gilbert Kabage called on Kinyanjui not to repeat the same mistakes that his predecessor Kinuthia Mbugua did during his tenure.

While terming Kinyanjui as his close friend, Kabage said it was good for the governor to have advisors but not cartels that are out to interfere with his administration.

“My appeal to my great friend Governor Kinyanjui is to ensure that he has good advisors not people who are out to ensure that his administration fails," Kabage said.
