The new Mandera speaker, Mohamed Aden Khalif, has assured the residents of the county that he will deliver on his duties without fear or favor following his election into the post.
Khalif has said that he will not only remain impartial but also obey the rule of law when it comes to leading debates at the county level.
The lawmaker said that it is only through this that the region will attain its development goals in the next five years of his reign.
Khalif, a prominent businessman, is affiliated to the Economic Freedom Party.
He also dismissed claims that he will frustrate Members of the county assembly who did not support his election bid.
“Those fears are neither here nor there. I don’t think it as in the interest of our people to fight each other. All our people want is service delivery, but what is important is respect for every arm of government,”he said, as quoted by Star.
The lawmaker also promised a new dawn as he takes over power from the past speaker.
‘I want to assure the residents of Mandera that this House, under my leadership, will do things differently. I however must say that I am not there to defend or fight with any political side” he added.
