Rashid Echesa Mohammed has taken over the reins at the ministry of Sports and National Heritage, looking to change tides at the ministry that has been underperforming on different fronts.
He, however, continues to leave many questions unanswered, and he declined to take questions as he took over from Hassan Wario on Tuesday.
“The media fraternity, I’m sorry I’m not going to take any questions from you today,” he said.
Despite all that, he declared war on all cartels, saying they are the largest problem in the ministry and that their eradication is his first priority.
The CS comes into office when most federations are facing a cash crunch, and the latest happenings with the national team coach Paul Put resigning.
The commonwealth games in April will be another huge test for the new CS, who will be keen to ensure the Rio 2016 fiasco does not happen again.

“it has come to my attention that we have the issue of cartels, it won’t be business as usual,” he said.
