Newly appointed Harambee Stars head coach Paul Put has called for patience and support from stakeholders and football lovers in the country even as he takes over the reins from underfire Stanley Okumbi.
Speaking shortly after he was unveiled in Mombasa during the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) annual delegates conference in Mombasa on Saturday, the Belgian noted that he is coming in at a time when the country's soccer image is battered, a situation he vowed to turn around should he be accorded the much-needed support.
"I believe in my ability and leadership to bring success to the country but I also need everyone to support me; the fans, the media, the FA and everyone who loves football,'' he said.
Prior to his appointment to head Stars, Put has also had stints with Gambia, Jordan and Burkina Faso national teams.
His first task will be to guide Stars to regional glory during the Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) bonanza set to kick off on December 3 in the country.
