The National Super Alliance (NASA) plan to inaugurate Raila Odinga have taken a new turn as internal wrangles wreck the Opposition ship.
On Monday January 15, NASA principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi had scheduled a meeting to iron out key concerns within the coalition, emerging from affiliate parties before the oath plan which has been set for January 30.
Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) are now against the swearing in plans, according to sources privy to the NASA puzzle.
Mudavadi on the other hand is said to be hanging in the balance, remaining non-committal.
Meanwhile, Raila’s side is said to be keen on the swearing in plan in a campaign not to anger the former prime minister’s followers who were disgruntled after the postponement of the swearing in plan that was set for December 12, 2017.
Earlier in the afternoon, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka reportedly hosted NASA principals Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi at his Karen residence. Top on their agenda was to agree on a common stand against the swearing in plans, a strategy that would see Odinga a lone ranger in the controversial exercise.
A report carried by Citizen TV intimated that the Monday meeting held at Karen Country Club in Nairobi failed to get consensus over the stormy issue in NASA leaders hands.
The secret meeting that weighed in on the merits and demerits of the January 30, oath plan but no conclusion was drawn.
Odinga’s convoy later stormed out of the meeting in what has been described as a low profile protest over the latest attitude from its partners in the Opposition coalition.
The NASA principals are expected to hold a follow up meeting on Tuesday January 17, in an effort to resolve the imminent compromise.
