Former TNA secretary general Onyango Oloo has been declared the ODM nominee for Kisumu Central parliamentary seat.

This is despite Ken Obura being named the winner on Wednesday.

According to election panel chairman Bernard Omondi, Oloo emerged victorious with 20,998 votes. He was followed by Fred Ouda who got 11,960. The earlier winner, Ken Obura, came in the third position with 3,287 votes. This is after the polls were recounted on Thursday.

Earlier results that were read by constituency returning officer Laban Bosire showed that Obura had garnered 24,601 votes while Fred Outa was second with 13,613. Oloo came in the third position with 5,090.

Other contenders in the race were Richard Ogendo (2,072) Ken Nyagudi (850) and Elphas Oyugi (87).

Omondi rubbished the results and stated that Bosire had declared Obura as the winner under duress.

Demonstrations were witnessed in the town after Obura was named winner on Wednesday with supporters of the other aspirants saying the elections were rigged.
