Angaza Empowerment Network which is a Mombasa-based NGO has distanced itself from a petition filed against Supreme Court judges Philomena Mwilu and Justice Isaac Lenaola by its CEO Derrick Ngumu.
The lobby group is believed to have distanced itself from its CEO, who petitioned the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to remove Justice Lenaola and Deputy Cheif Justice Philomena Mwilu for misconduct.
According to the companies Executive Director, Livingstone Nyando, Ngumu never consulted with the board members before filing the petition.
"In the case, at least three of the directors must admit to the proposal before ratification. No board meeting was held for that matter," he said.
He added that there were no minutes recorded of a meeting that could have presuaded Ngumu to file the petition based on that account.
Nyando further said that the board would write a letter to the JSC excluding the NGO from the petition.
According to Ngumu's petition he claimed Mwilu and Lenaola had been in secret communication with NASA lawyers over the course of the presidential election petition hearing.
The Deputy Chief Justice was suspected to have held telephone conversations and meetings with Raila's counsel of James Orengo, Amos Wako and Moses Wetangula who each had a connection to the case.
