A new 'tyranny of numbers' favours Raila Odinga ahead of the August 8 elections next week.
According to an argument by Barrack Muluka through the Star, Jubilee strongholds like Nandi, Nakuru, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Bomet, Murang'a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kiambu, Embu and Laikipia have registered 7.4 million voters.
However, NASA's strongholds of Kakamega, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Busia, Vihiga, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Turkana, Mombasa, Lamu, TaitaTaveta, Kwale, Kilifi, Machakos, Makueni and Kitui registered about 8.2 million voters.
The remaining 50-50 counties that include Nairobi have some 4 million votes.
"It has become very dangerous for Uhuru and he has to really go flat out to win votes, including in places he ignored the last time," says Muluka.
"Last time we were told the Jubilee regions had more registered voters than the Cord zones. This time we have the reverse. If NASA voters turn out in big numbers or huge percentages to vote, then he will go home. Forget about what the pollsters have been giving us. Their scientific figures have been in question and the truth of the matter is the tyranny of numbers favours NASA," adds the analyst.
