Thieves in Nakuru have now devised ways of ensuring that they steal and escape safely without being caught.

This is because they have discovered that people are quickly catching up to their tricks. Thieves have now turned to children to help them in their ploy.

The child in this case is asked to knock at the gate of a certain homestead after which she is asked to lie that she has been chased away from home because her school sweater got lost.

As a human being, this will naturally lead you to open the door while wondering how some women can be so cruel. However, as soon as you open the door, you will never know what hit you as a couple of strong looking men will enter your house with some confining you down whereas others raid your home.

In other cases, some thieves ensure that they get your phone number and full names, the details of a person’s child, where they go to school and the name of their teacher.

Once they gather this information, they then go ahead to call the parent telling her that her child has been hurt badly and is now at the hospital waiting to be taken to the ICU.

The thieves then go ahead to convince the parent that they thought it wise to take the child to hospital before calling you as she was badly hurt.

After relaying this information, they will then ask you to send money via M-Pesa to enable them pay the hospitals deposit so that your child can be attended to.

Most parents and especially the women fall for this as they want what is best for their child.

After this money is sent, they will quickly withdraw it and switch the phone of. It is only when the parent decides to go to school that she will find her child safe and most probably playing.

In other instances, the thieves raid certain homesteads and just when the homeowners begin shouting for help, the thieves also pretend to be part of those asking for help and once a neighbour emerges, he is caught in the same predicament as the person he was trying to help.

This method has managed to work in their favour in several homesteads.

Another method is where the thieves will raid one compound with a couple of houses where they will force the owner or those in the house to knock into the next house pretending to need some help.

One the door is opened, the thieves then go ahead to rob all the valuables.

This method is used up to the last house in that compound where all the members of the different houses are locked in the last house before the thieves escape as soon as they entered.

On the other hand, some of the thieves target ladies handbags while pretending to be passengers on a motorbike.

The thieves carefully observe how ladies carry their handbags with their target being mostly those ladies who do not hang their handbags on their shoulders and instead carry them using their hands as they stroll down the streets.
