[Photo/Courtesy]Five suspected Al-Shaabab militants have been killed.The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) troops made attack and killed the militants on Sunday evening.They are believed to be behind the attack in Ijara, Garissa County.During the dawn attack late last week, the militants burned down Ijara police station, vandalised Safaricom mast, stole from local shops and attacked Ijara AP camp, making away with a police Landcruiser.They damaged Ijara report office, armoury, office of the OCS, water tank, canteen and a church, within the station. According to the KDF spokesman Colonel David Obonyo, the troops caught up with the terrorists as they tried to access Somalia border from Kenya."In the ensuing, fire fight bomb making materials that were being ferried in the stolen land cruiser exploded destroying the vehicle," said Obonyo."A motorcycle suspected to have been stolen in Ijara, 5AK rifles, 13 magazines with 370 rounds of ammunition, 2 grenades, bomb making materials, and personal items were recovered," he added in a statement.The KDF troops are still pursuing other terrorists who fled with injuries to the general area of Sarira, 25 kilometers North of Baure.
