Business people in Kisii town have taken advantage of newly installed street lights by the county government to operate their businesses till late hours.
The bright light illuminated by the street lights has now made it possible for travelers, business people and their customers to move around without any fear of darkness.
Ann Ondieki a business lady at Daraja Mbili market says she is able to operate her business till late hours without fear since according to her, the security lights guarantee necessary security.
“Unlike in the past, we are able to sell till late hours. This has really changed business trends positively in this town. We are able to make extra money from our late hour operation,” said Ondieki.
She applauded the county government for the installation of those street lights in the town and she also hopes that the county government will extend the same service to other townships across the county.
“I really thank James Ongwae for this major developmental step. If he could just extend the same to other small towns, then our county will be very competitive in terms of development,” noted Ondieki.
According to Ondieki, businesses have blossomed since the installation of street lights adding that she gets a good profit from her sales.
“We have no problem selling till late hours unlike the way it used to be earlier and this is a great advantage to us. In a good day, I am able to make a profit of more than Sh500.
Kisii County government started installing lights a couple of months ago as one of the mega projects starting with kisii town before reaching other townships.
