Matundura further challenged local administrators to make an initiative of helping them to apply for ID cards .

"Newly married couples are not registering as voters because they do not have IDs. I want to challenge chiefs to help these people apply for the crucial documents," he said.

Matundura further said: " A number of our youths are not also registering as voters for reasons I do not know. I want to also ask the Nyumba Kumi team across the region to work on the vice for the sake of salvaging the situation."

His remarks comes after Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery also tasked chiefs from Nyamira and Kisii counties to ensure at least 300,000 new voters are registered by Friday.
