Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a has told traders at Makadara and Jamhuri markets to stay put alleging that the county government is plotting to evict them.

Addressing residents in Thika town on Thursday, the MP alleged that the county is planning to evict the hawkers.

She said that they will not allow the county to evict workers adding that the county government has ill motives against the hawkers and traders.

“We will resist any form of eviction, we are tired of being threatened by the county government,” said Ng’ang’a.

The MP said that hawkers rights must be respected stating that they contribute largely to the county’s revenue.

Meanwhile, Ng’ang’a has asked the county government to improve road infrastructure especially roads.

The lawmaker said most roads are in poor state and are rendered impassable during heavy rains.

The MP added that improving road networks will open business opportunities for businessmen and locals in Thika.

She added that development will be realised if the government invests in key infrastructures like roads and housing.
