Speaking in Thika Town on Monday, Ng'ang'a said that the 25km road which passes through Kiganjo, Athena and Kiandutu is fully funded by the national government through Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).

"We announced on June that Thika bypass will be constructed to help ease traffic along Thika-Garissa Road. The ground works have began and am happy with how the work is going on,” said Ng'ang'a.

She added, " Some vehicles will be able to divert at the BAT junction and use the road before joining the Thika superhighway on the other end.”

The MP said the road is part of the national government's 10,000 km 2015 road project that will be constructed through the State's annuity plan.

Ng'ang'a added that the road will be maintained by Thika Town constituency roads committee in coordination with KeRA.

She noted that the completion of the road will open up areas of Kiganjo, Kivulini, Athena and Kiandutu slums for growth and development.
