The construction of a 25km road in Thika is set to begin by the end of the year according to area MP Alice Ng’ang’a.

Ng’ang’a said the proposed Thika by-pass will help ease congestion and give the business community an easier time in transporting their products.

She said that the murram road that heads to the former Castle Breweries will be tarmacked to create an exit from the town towards Nairobi. The construction of this exit is scheduled to commence on December.

The other by-pass will exit Garissa Road from Kivulini near Leather Industries through Kisii Estate, Muthaiga in Kiganjo, Kiang'ombe, and Kiandutu all the way to Castle Breweries.

This is intended to ease traffic along Garissa Road especially near Posta and BAT in Makongeni through the introduction of an exit feeder to link to the main by-pass at Metro-fil through Kiandutu.

The legislator who was speaking at the Thika Sub-County stadium on Friday said that she is determined to reduce the overwhelming traffic congestion in the town.

"I will ensure all roads under my jurisdiction are rehabilitated by the end of the 2015-16 financial year," she said.
