The fund is set to boost the students as they await Constituency Development Fund money from the national government which is set to arrive by the end of November.

Speaking in Thika town on Thursday, the legislator said that out of 280 students, 17 will benefit fully from the trust fund, which means their fees will be paid until they graduate.

The remaining 263 students from Thika Township ward were given Sh10,000 each to pay their school fees from different institutions within the country.

The MP said that Sh18 million had been set aside for needy students in the ward and that she was to disburse Sh4 million this year to kick-start the project.

Ng’ang’a said the trust fund will be disbursed three times annually and conduct a harambee meeting every August for the well-wishers to support and contribute the project.

“Every year, I will disburse the fund three times to help the needy students in my ward and hope the well-wishers will join hands to help be raise money to the students every August,” she said.

The MP has also promised to construct Ngoingwa irrigation water in the outskirt of Thika town.

Speaking at the same event, Ng’ang’a rubbished the establishment of the new county court established last month by Governor William Kabogo in Thika for what she terms as embezzlement of public funds.

She said that the new county court is causing confusion since Kabogo has not specified the court will handle which type of cases.

Ng’ang’a said that the introduction of the court was irrelevant since there is still an existing magistrate court in the area which will still serve the same cause and thus it was mismanagement of the tax payers’ money.

She also termed the leader of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) Raila Odinga as a double-minded leader who says one thing and practices the direct opposite.

She said it was laughable that the former Premier could seat down and watch rowdy MCAs manhandle and evict the ODM’s executive director Magerer Langat for allegedly being disloyal to him yet he keeps pointing fingers at the Jubilee leadership whenever the latter attempts to discipline errant members.

The outspoken MP said that Raila is “a busybody who is quick to offer his advice even where it was not needed”.

She called on the former Prime Minster to concentrate on rectifying the mess in his party before attempting to advice Jubilee.
