Speaking on Friday during a visit and HIV/AIDS awareness Campaign in Matuu town, Nganga encouraged residents to get tested.

"We should all get tested so that we know our status and if found positive it is best to accept the situation and be in an ARV program immediately," said Nganga.

Nganga further advised adults and teenagers to lead responsible lives so as to avoid new avoidable infections.

"To avoid unnecessary early deaths and new infections, everyone should be responsible by being faithful to ones' partner, abstaining and use of protection," she added.

The residents of Yatta sub-county who had gathered in Matuu Memorial Secondary School were advised against stigmatizing and discriminating the patients.

"Stigma and discrimination to the people living with Hiv virus is a thing of the past as medication is available and accessible and people have live healthy and long lives," she noted.
