Mombasa deputy governor Dr William Kingi received a delegation from the National Gender and Equity Commission (NGEC) who paid him a courtesy call at his office. 

The team had a fruitful deliberations with the commissioners on enhancing participation of ethnic minority and marginalised communities in Mombasa County.

The commission acknowledged the county government's achievement in upholding the principles of equity and inclusivity, and ranked Mombasa County top among the counties in appreciating the diversity of its people. 

"Our progress as a government over the years can only be attributed to the commitment of H.E Hassan Ali Joho to creating a more cohesive environment for the growth and prosperity of our citizens irrespective of their ethnic backgrounds," said Kingi, Thursday.

Over the years, Kingi said the county government of Mombasa had granted equal opportunities to every citizen.

"Our government shall continue to ensure that the ethnic minority and marginalised communities get their fair share of government opportunities. H.E Hassan Ali Joho remains a committed partner to NGEC and to affirm this partnership I signed a commitment certificate on behalf of the county government to aver our allegiance to the principles of equity and inclusivity," he added.
