Uasin Gishu County Women Rep Eusila Ng'eny has said that the county has started an empowerment initiative to encourage women into leadership.

Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, Ng'eny said that women should vie for elective leadership positions such as governorship and the presidency.

"Women are also leaders beginning from leading the family so it won’t be impossible for them to lead the nation," said Ng'eny.

The woman representative urged women to come out in large numbers to vie for different positions in 2017.

"We should eye for higher positions come 2017, we should prove to the whole nation that we are good representatives in government.

She further urged women to join cooperative societies to enable them get access to funds to invest in income generating activities.
