Muhoroni Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has released Sh 4.3 million for the upgrading of the 13-kilometre Ngere-Masogo road.
Area MP Onyango Koyoo said the road is falling under the county government of Kisumu but the delay to upgrade it is causing a lot of problems to the public.
Koyoo said those using the road are his constituents thus the need to allocate CDF to upgrade it.
“We cannot wait for the county government to come and upgrade this road yet my people are suffering. I have now allocated some funds from CDF to maintain the road,” he said.
He said the constituency grader and the compactor donated to them by Muhoroni Sugar Company will be used to upgrade the road.
Koyoo said fuel will be bought to run the tow machines and warned CDF staff against swindling public funds but to ensure that public funds are utilised well.
The MP noted that he is safeguarding public funds to benefit the public.
“I want to tell you that public funds under my watch will not be swindle, any of my staff found taking public funds will be sacked and jailed,” he said.
The MP said he is not distracted by politicians who are out to discredit him but will continue working for the people of Muhoroni.
He said for the last two years he has been in office he has helped open up roads in the constituency and drilled bore holes to provide clean water to secondary schools.
“This constituency is big and I am serving it well, so let nobody come to this Nyangoma ward thinking that he is popular,” he said.
