The last general election was a political tragedy for Kamba community since none of the prominent leaders joined the government, Former Lands Minister Charity Kaluki Ngilu has said.
Ngilu, who is contesting for the Kitui governorship, said that is unfortunate that she and Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka both lost despite having taken different routes during the last general election.
The aspirant argues that the community has no reasons to back the current regime because they have not reaped much from its leadership.
“We may have differed with Kalonzo before but for the first time since independence, the Kamba community doesn’t have a strong voice at the cabinet level or sufficient representation in top government positions,” she said as quoted by Nation.
In the meantime, Ngilu has already started her campaigns. The lawmaker is banking on her performance scoreboard and ties with National Super Alliance (NASA) top brass to rise to power in the forthcoming general elections.
She has continued to assure her supporters that she will transform their lives if she becomes the next governor of the area. Ngilu will be contesting against the incumbent Dr. Julius Malombe and Senator David Musila, an Independent candidate.
