Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has rescued a 24-year-old new mother after she gave birth to triplets at home due to poverty.
Ngilu intervened urgently after area chief Maryln Kilonzo called her on the phone and reported plight of Faith Mukiti who hails from Kamuwongo village in Mwingi North Sub County.
The governor on Thursday dispatched a team from the Kitui County Government's health department to the woman's home that collected and took her to Mwingi Level Four Hospital where she is receiving medication together with the triplets.
Ngilu ordered that the mother be accorded necessary medical and post natal care to ensure she does not starve and that the new borns and herself are in good health before they get discharged from the facility.
A credible source told this writer that Ngilu's policy in leadership is that anybody can freely call her personally and alert her whenever residents are in serious trouble which need her urgent attention especially women.
Ms Mukiti and her triplets were rushed to the health facility by Kitui Government's Hospital Emergency Response Team after the governor issued orders.
By Thursday evening, Mukiti's tribulations had changed to an awesome bundle of joy, hope and anticipation.
Ngilu did a shopping of baby clothes, food stuff, among other goodies to the mother. She issued her money for upkeep.
The babies have been kept in nursery as the new mother of two girls and a boy is receiving best post natal care courtesy of Governor Charity Ngilu.
