Kitui governor candidate Charity Ngilu has expressed optimism of winning the seat in next week’s general election.
Speaking when she met youth leaders at Mutumo in Kitui on Wednesday, Ngilu asked incumbent Julius Malombe to write his concession speech.
She said that Malombe has been a disappointment to residents in terms of delivering in the development pledges he made in 2103.
The Narc party leader said that residents feel cheated and will not be lured to endorse Malombe second term bid.
“My friend Malombe should write his concession speech and wait to go home on August 8,” she said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Ngilu promised to fight for the interests of the residents who he said are grappling in poverty, unemployment, lack of clean water, poor health care and infrastructure.
The former Lands CS urged locals not to gamble with their votes by voting for non-performer.
She promised transformative leadership within 100 days if elected governor.
Ngilu is eyeing Malombe's seat on a Narc party ticket. Senator David Musila is also in the race as an independent candidate.
Governor Malombe who is seeking re-election on Wiper party has dismissed rivals claiming they have no development agenda for the people.
