Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has come out to defend her recent move to back Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka for presidency ahead of the August General election.
According to Ngilu her union with Kalonzo is aimed at pushing for the Kamba community to have part of the national cake after the next general polls.
Ngilu argues that her community lacks representation at the national level hence the need to unite. The outspoken politician noted that the last general election was a tragedy to the Kamba community since they lost all the important seats in the government, adding that her differences with Kalonzo are a thing of the past.
“We may have differed with Kalonzo before, but for the first time since independence, the Kamba community doesn’t have a strong voice at the Cabinet level or sufficient representation in top government positions,” she said, as quoted by Nation.
She further launched a scathing attack against leaders opposing the new found unity between her and Kalonzo terming them enemies of the community.
Ngilu has declared interest in the Kitui Governorship currently held by Dr. Julius Malombe. Wiper Party Chairman David Musila will also vie for the same seat.
