This is a big milestone for Kalonzo who is running for the presidency in the 2017 general election.

Speaking during a burial ceremony at Mutula village in Kitui County, the NARC leader said she made a mistake in 2013 by supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta election.

“This time, I will not make a mistake like in 2013 and I have made a resolve to back the most suitable candidate for presidency and that is Kalonzo Musyoka,” said Ngilu.

Ngilu said the former Vice President has what it takes to send the Jubilee administration home, adding that ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula should back Kalonzo for the Opposition to clinch the presidency.

The unity of the two ends more than a decade of political contention that reached ugly proportions in September 2011, when Ngilu snubbed Kalonzo's hand at a public function. She said the new political realignment will change the political landscape of the region as the two command a huge following.

“As I campaign for him for the high office, he will also support me in the county politics as this is the way to go to change the political shape of this region,” she said.

She urged Kitui voters to reciprocate what she has done for them during her tenure as Kitui Central MP and Minister for health and water by electing her as the next governor. Others eyeing Kitui gubernatorial seat include Senator David Musila and the incumbent Governor Julius Malombe.
