Kitui governor Charity Ngilu has blasted Kiambu politicians, saying that their threats will not stop her from enforcing the charcoal ban.
Speaking to locals at Mutomo in Kitui Town on Monday morning, Ngilu said that the charcoal ban cannot be stopped by Kiambu 'cartels'.
She said that Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is defending 'cartels' who have been wrecking havoc in the county.
The Kitui governor said that she will not be intimidated or frightened by Waititu's alleged threats.
Governor Ngilu termed Waititu and others questioning the charcoal ban as 'enemies' of environment conservation.
"We are going to enforce the charcoal ban to the later whether Waititu and others like it or not" she said.
Ngilu claimed that governor Waititu is the one inciting his people against Kitui residents.
The Kitui governor said that she is not afraid of the threats being is uttered against her , adding that she will appear before the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on Tuesday.
The Kitui governor asked residents to remain firm and condemn activities aimed at degrading the environment.
Ngilu has been under criticism over claims that she incited youth to torch down two lorries that were found ferrying charcoal in Kanyororo, Kitui county, two weeks ago.
Ngilu has denied the allegations, saying that her resolve to conserve the environment is unstoppable.
