Ngilu who spoke in Machakos town on Saturday said she will only join an alliance that has the best offer for Kenyans now that the country is facing numerous challenges.

There has been speculation that the former Water Cabinet Secretary is warming up to NASA, an opposition coalition bringing together Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya).

Late 2016, she indicated that she would vie for the presidency, a move she has since withdrawn taking into account the weight of the country's two major alliances- NASA and Jubilee.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has on several occasions told her to return to government but the outspoken former Kitui Central MP has been reluctant to do so.

"At the moment surely you all know the serious problems that Kenyans are experiencing such as shortage of food," she said.
