Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu held a meeting with the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), Tuesday, at the society's headquarters in Nairobi. The two parties discussed areas of partnership mostly in food security and livelihood, provision of safe and clean water, emergency response and ambulance services, as well as youth and women empowerment.Ngilu proposed a number of immediate areas of partnership, such as the rehabilitation of stalled boreholes that require minor repairs, emergency cash transfers to households in Mwingi, which are greatly hit by drought.

The Society agreed to work with Ngilu's administration to facelift and operationalise key dispensaries, provision of farming seeds to enable residents to grow their own food, as well as reinforcement of bee keeping among women and youth.

To flag off the partnership, Kenya Red Cross led by its Director Abbas Gullet affirmed that it would immediately rehabilitate 20 key boreholes in Kitui County, so as to relieve residents from walking long distances in search of water.
