The orders were issued by Kitui resident magistrate Ruth Mutende on Tuesday.

The court ordered police to refrain from arresting Ngilu until the government presses charges against her.

Sources revealed there is an inquiry file at the Kitui CID offices regarding the same already.

The governor is accused of inciting the Kitui County residents to ruthlessly deal with the pastoralists who had iinvaded their land and those who cut down trees for charcoal burning.

Ngilu was allegedly recorded in an audio clip issuing the orders.

The governor on Sunday denied allegations that she was targeting business people from one community in the crackdown on charcoal trade.
