Over 3,000 people have applied for the eight Kitui County CeC positions advertised by the county government early this month, Governor Charity Ngilu has said.The Governor said the deadline for application of the positions expired on Thursday, adding that the short listing will be done transparently by the County Public Service Board and successfully candidates invited for interviews.The county boss said the candidates who will be selected after the interviews will be vetted by the County Assembly before being sworn into office.Ngilu assured residents that her government will conduct its work in a transparent and credible manner.“Our systems are going to be transparent and we can assure the public that Kitui is a corruption no go zone,” said Ngilu, as quoted by the Standard.The Kitui Governor urged residents to report to her any corruption related cases they might encounter directly while seeking services.She also urged residents to speak out when asked to give or take bribes in order to receive various services.“I want to reiterate that my administration will not tolerate corruption and whoever engages in it must be ready to face the music,” she said.Ngilu observed that corruption has maimed realization of development in the country and must be fought by all means.Meanwhile, Ngilu has urged marginalized groups to apply for government tenders, adding that her administration will adhere to the 30 per cent tender rule for women, youth and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs).
