Former lands Minister Charity Kaluki Ngilu has promised to adopt an open door policy once she takes over power.

Ngilu, who won the governorship race, has said that she will form an all inclusive government to take care of the needs of the residents of Kitui in the next five years.

She said that her leadership will ensure that all the residents benefit from the resources in the county regardless of the political or religious affiliation.

“You must be part of the Kitui leadership. The leadership where everybody will be involved. No one should count himself lowly in Kitui County. It is now a county of equals,” the newly elected governor said, as quoted by Star.

The lawmaker also said that she is committed to ensure that the residents are no longer living in poverty like they have done in the past. She further said that the county has enough resources to cater for all of them.

“We must end poverty. I do not want to ever glorify poverty which has been glorified in Kenya. God has endowed us with good land, human resource and labour, and capital through devolution. And even appropriate technology to exploit,” Ngilu said.
