Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has criticized his Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua for skipping the Kamba leaders' unity meeting held at Koma in Matungulu, Machakos County on Monday.
She said Mutua's move to skip the crucial meeting meant to chat the Kamba community's political way forward was a mockery to the community.
Ngilu who addressed the press in Kitui town on Tuesday said Mutua should apologize to the community for snubbing the "important" meeting.
She accused the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader of ignoring the meeting and failing to communicate on his absence.
"It was mockery of the highest order for Governor Mutua to snub such an important meeting that was discussing the future of the Kamba nation," Ngilu said.
Ngilu said leaders from the Ukambani region should work as a team moving forward.
"For us to have a taste of power, we must put our differences aside and support each other," she said.
Ngilu noted that the Kamba community has able and experienced politicians who have the capability of winning presidential election.
She urged Kambas to unite and register as voters in large numbers ahead of the 2022 polls.
Ngilu said Ukambani has to produce a president in the 2022 general election.
Governor Mutua skipped the Monday unity meeting terming it a Wiper party affair.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap governor claimed he could not attend the meeting which he said was being used to make selfish political endorsements for certain people.
The Monday meeting chaired by Kalonzo was attended by Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and his Makueni counterpart Kivutha Kibwana among several other leaders from the entire Ukambani region.
The leaders endorsed Kalonzo's 2022 presidential bid.
The meeting gave the former Vice President a nod to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for political dialogue.
