Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has broken her silence on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s absence from Raila Odinga’s swearing-in at Uhuru Park on Tuesday.Ngilu said Kalonzo’s absence sent a wrong signal on the important day which thousands of Kenyans and NASA supporters had waited for months. The Kitui county boss, however, said that Kalonzo should be given a chance to explain his absence without being intimidated or criticised.“We were all surprised because we expected him as our deputy president to attend the swearing-in,” said Ngilu.Addressing journalists at her Kitui office on Wednesday, Ngilu asked Raila, Kalonzo, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to discuss the critical issues that are threatening their unity. The Kitui Governor warned that the electoral reforms agenda will stall if NASA’s top leaders part ways.Ngilu at the same time congratulated Raila for taking the oath, saying that he has started the third liberation journey. She said Raila is a selfless leader who has the interests of the Kenyan people at heart.Kalonzo, Mudavadi, and Wetangula skipped Raila’s inauguration on Tuesday.Kalonzo continues to receive criticism and condemnation from NASA leaders and supporters who have labeled him a traitor. The Wiper leader has however defended his absence, saying that he will take the oath soon.
