Former Lands Minister Charity Ngilu has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto of using state resources to conduct their campaigns ahead of the rerun.

The Kitui governor said that the ruling party have breached the constitution by using what belongs to the common mwananchi in the vote hunt mission across the nation.

Speaking during a funeral in her backyard, Ngilu said that it unfortunate for the two leaders to use different  public resources as they seek to retain power when Kenyans are languishing in abject poverty despite having paid their taxes.

“Kenyans are suffering the effects of a failing economy yet we are seeing Jubilee top leaders extravagantly spending state resources daily on their campaigns to retain power,“ she insisted, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The vocal lawmaker also called upon supporters of the National Super Alliance (NASA) not to take part in the rerun. She argued that it is senseless to be part of the exercise when NASA presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga and his running mate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka have withdrawn their candidature.

The opposition has maintained that it will not take part in the exercise unless the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) heeds to its demands.
