Governor Charity Ngilu has pledged to introduce more changes in the health sector for better service delivery. The county boss, who was elected on Narc Kenya ticket has said that quack doctors and shortage of drugs in health facilities in the county will be a thing of the past following her election.
She said that she has plans to increase the budget for the purchase of drugs from Sh250 million to Sh500 million, adding that there will be insurance cover for all the residents in the region. She also said that each of the households in the area will be expected to pay Sh1000 and will get medical coverage.
She was speaking outside her office after receiving drugs worth Sh100 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority. The lawmaker further said that she is not happy with the current health situation but she will do her best.
“I feel terrible when I find people queuing here waiting for me to assist them because their people have been detained in some roadside dispensaries manned by quacks. Henceforth, people will get best quality healthcare,” she said, as quoted by The Star.
She further revealed that she is working on a model to have workers providing services as they return to their homes.
