Kitui governor Charity Ngilu says that her government will channel 80 per cent of its annual budget expenditure to development.
Ngilu notes that that for her administration to achieve the development pledges she made to the people, more money has to be spend on prioritized development projects.
Speaking when she officiated the opening of the County Assembly on Tuesday, the governor said that her government will prioritize on key sectors like water, agriculture, healthcare, empowerment, trade and education.
The former Lands Cabinet Secretary (CS) revealed that she has reached out to several local and foreign investors to help fund some of the development projects.
“My administration is open up to local and foreign investors and we will be giving out incentives to those who want to invest in our county,” she said in her maiden speech to the county assembly.
Ngilu observed that the national government budget is not enough to implement projects and at the same time pay county employees.
The Narc Party leader added that her government has introduced austerity measures to utilize available government resources.
She urged elected and nominated MCAs to partner with her and help uplift local’s living standards through service delivery.
“My appeal is to the MCAs and other leaders to work with me so that we can deliver services to our people who elected us to serve them,” she said.
Ngilu asked the MCAs most who were elected on Wiper ticket to put aside their party affiliations and work for the interest of people.
She expressed confidence that her administration will deliver on the promises she made to the locals.
