Kitui governor Charity Ngilu has trashed former governor Julius Malombe's petition challenging her election terming it baseless.
Ngilu says that Malombe is wasting time because the gubernatorial election was free and fair.
Addressing locals at Kitui town on Sunday, Ngilu said that she is ready to defend her election in court.
"I am not afraid of the petition and Malombe should prepare for another defeat in court," she said as quoted by the Standard.
Ngilu claimed that Malombe is still in shock of losing the governor seat in the recently concluded general election.
The former Lands Cabinet Secretary (CSCS) urged residents not to fear to say that Malombe's will crumble.
Ngilu said that Malombe and other politicians want to stall hr development agenda through court battles.
Malombe filed the petition at the Kitui High court on Friday.
He claimed that there were massive electoral irregularities in the gubernatorial race and Ngilu was not fairly elected.
The former governor now wants Ngilu's election nullified and a fresh gubernatorial election ordered by the court.
