Former Lands Minister Charity Kaluki Ngilu has exuded confidence that she will beat both incumbent Kitui governor Dr. Julius Malombe and Senator David Musila ahead of the August polls.

Ngilu hit the campaign trail early last year after falling out with Jubilee leadership. The lawmaker accused the Jubilee government of political witch-haunt after she unceremoniously lost her cabinet docket.

Analysts argue that her decision to contest for the area’s governorship was the only viable way she could remain relevant in the political arena.

The aspirant have vowed to rally the electorate behind NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga in Ukambani, which is likely to boost her candidature considering the support enjoyed by the former prime minister in the region.

Ngilu argues that the 2013 election was a big loss to her people since they do not have powerful leaders in the government to fight for their rights.

“We may have differed with Kalonzo before but for the first time since independence, the Kamba community doesn’t have a strong voice at the cabinet level or sufficient representation in top government positions,” she said as quoted by Nation during past function.

The aspirant has promised to change the lives of Kitui residents if elected.
